Hang in There, Baby

The countdown is almost down to single digits - which is just crazy to think about.  At my weekly visit on Tuesday the doctor said we could more than likely look forward to another 'weekly' visit this coming Tuesday.  Yeah, figured.   He said I was at a "one" - but I think that was a stretch (no pun intended).  Of all the advice and insights I've had on pregnancy from even complete strangers, no one ever mentioned the experience of being "checked." Yipe.

My mom informed me she never delivered early with any of her four pregnancies... may I take this time to note that each of her single-baby pregnancies resulted in babies over 10 lbs. (Taryn and I were almost 15 together) - poor dear! Of course I feel that I'll be the first woman to deliver a 15 lb. baby - that's how big I feel.  She'll probably come out perfectly petite at six pounds.

But as of now I'm not anxious to be delivering.  Ben is in Cleveland on business for a few more days and my mom is in Mississippi working.  As soon as they are both nearby I'll be more comfortable with the idea of having a baby.  Also, my mother-in-law is hosting a shower for me tomorrow. It'd be a shame to miss that!

Last night I was watching Bethenny Getting Married - the show is a great spin-off of Real Housewives of NYC, with much less drama.  Maybe I like it so much because of its relevance to me right now. (Not the whole shotgun wedding thing but the pregnancy /delivery.)  Bethenny's husband Jason went shopping for a "push gift" for her after their daughter was born. I already liked him a lot. But a PUSH gift?  Genious. I may or may not have saved the episode to watch with Ben.

p.s. I totally want some Trumpette socks - how darling are these!? Do they stay on?

Summer in Montana

Ben and I joined the family at my parents' in Montana last week. We were all together over the 4th of July weekend - which was so great. Considering we're together only once or twice a year - we must make the most of every moment!

This trip was a little different for me - no boating (a pothole in the road is too much bounce for me these days), not too much sun time (can we say, puffy?), and overall more time relaxing.  Hey, a girl has to follow doctor's orders. There was still plenty of spectating for me and activities for everyone - including golf, boating, Dean's baseball games, movie outings, marshmallows by the fire, crafting, long visits and LOTS of yummy food.

This was Dean's last summer for legion baseball. We were lucky enough to catch a game almost every day of the ten days I was there - he is so fun to watch and may I say very talented.  Mom was sure to get us there right on time every game so we wouldn't miss Dean's lead off at bat.

Mom taught Reese to say "C'mon blue, you're killin' me!"

When not at the ball fields, we spent our time at Lake Blaine - there is no more picturesque place!
Reese wanted me to jump on this floating trampoline with her - not only can I not jump, but a person my size moving around on something so unstable would have certainly resulted in a dip in the lake.  I kept my tush on the side but Reese didn't seem to mind.

Mom threw a double baby shower for me and Lindsey.  Linds found out a few weeks ago that they're having a girl! (baby #1 for her too). What else did we expect - we love girls in our family! She's due in November and I am so happy for her and Mike. She will be an incredible mother.  I sorta wish she were going before me so I could just copy what she does.  Her teeny cute bump made me look so prego, there was no mistaking who was due first.  Taryn and Mom came up with a most delicious menu complete with hand-frosted and adorned 'onesie' and 'cupcake' sugar cookies. I have a feeling Taryn will be posting them on her blog. Yum! I was in charge of the Watermelon punch... which turned out, well, weird. Let's stick to the things we do well, huh?

After the husbands and Tessa left, we had a few days to visit friends and spend a bit more time together. This picture was taken from the Hanna's deck on Flathead Lake... what an incredible view.

The last few nights there I started thinking, "What if I go into labor this far from home and away from Ben?"  I figured he'd have nine hours to get to me - and all he'd have to remember was our car seat so we'd be able to leave the hospital.  I made it home without even a single contraction and on the day of my one-month mark. Now baby can come anytime. As long as Mom has time to get here, that is.
